Distant Memory

you were taken away
just like that
one day you were here
the next day you were not

they asked me if i'm ok
they asked me if i'm sad
i was not ok
i was devastated

frozen in shock
hardly shed a tear at your departure
but that doesn't mean
i loved you any less

who pulls all the strings i thought
with no regard for anyone
how can they take someone away
without a warning

i learnt to move on
just like everyone else
though at times i feel betrayed
i feel cheated

you were supposed to
be apart of my life
instead you ended up being
a distant memory
